04.15.26 Free Nervous System Regulators

Fun fact: Did you know that our brains are not responsible for making us happy? I’ve been feeling a little off the past few weeks. If you’re with me, raise your hand! Sometimes the world can feel messy, ugly, and beautiful all at the same time. Some days it’s hard to push through the bullshit and see the light at the end of the tunnel. It’s easy to dwell, to get angry, and to lose sight of what’s important. I’m not going to lie, this has been a big struggle for me lately. What keeps bringing me back to reality? The simple shit.

Here are some simple things you can slowly incorporate when you’re feeling out of balance, nervous/anxious, sad, or even overwhelmed.

Try humming softly to yourself and let the vibration soften your mind.

Exhale longer than you inhale. This signals safety to your brain and body.

Step outside and let the natural sunlight shine on you. As you do this, close your eyes and smile. Listen to the sounds around you. Leave your phone inside-minimize distractions.

Touch the Earth through bare feet, bare presence.

Move gently, yet freely. Sometimes just a nice sway or stretch can turn our moods.

Be with someone safe. Who you surround yourself really matters. Co-regulation is medicine.
